No. StrataFx is its own product with its own license, and it works with the simulator’s own weather, MSFS Live Weather included.

If StrataWx is running on the same PC, StrataFx connects to it on its own. Adaptive themes then follow the visibility StrataWx is flying, along with the simulator’s sun and time.

No. StrataFx does not add a post-processing pass, replace textures or grade the finished frame. It adjusts the values the simulator’s own renderer uses to draw the sky, so the light is scattered and composed by the simulator itself.

Never. Clouds, wind and precipitation belong to your weather, whether that is MSFS Live Weather, a preset or StrataWx. StrataFx changes how that atmosphere looks. Its optional cloud-animation controls adjust how clouds move in the wind your weather already has, and never set a wind of their own.

Press Stop, press Restore original, or close StrataFx. Before it changes anything, StrataFx records the simulator’s own values, and each of those returns every one of them exactly.

Opening StrataFx changes nothing on its own: your look only reaches the simulator when you press Apply.

No. It installs nothing into your simulator or its Community folder. It works on the running simulator while you fly and hands the sky back when you stop. It runs as a normal application with no administrator prompt, and it is code-signed by StrataSim Designs LLC.

Run one at a time. Before it applies anything, StrataFx checks that the simulator is in the state it expects, and it steps aside rather than fight another tool over the same values.

Now and then, not all the time. Each license check is good for seven days, and StrataFx renews it in the background while your PC is online.

Yes. Save any look as a theme, export it as a file and send it to another pilot, who can import it in one step. You can also back up your whole library to a single file.

StrataFx is complete enough to fly with every day, and still growing. Twenty sky and environment controls and five weather controls are live today. More are in development, and each one ships only once it has been verified in the simulator. Updates install in the background.
